Armored Sedans by Exec Armor

Three reasons: discretion, ride quality and acoustics. A well-executed armored sedan is genuinely indistinguishable from the factory original on the outside. The transparent armor glass matches the OEM tint and curvature, panel gaps are restored to factory tolerance, and the exterior badging, trim and wheels remain stock. Executives operating in environments where visible armor would attract attention or signal high-value transport routinely choose sedans for this reason alone.

Ride quality is the second reason. Premium sedans like the S-Class, Maybach and Phantom are engineered from the ground up around limousine smoothness and cabin acoustics. Their air-suspension systems handle the added 500 to 800 kilograms of armor mass much more elegantly than an SUV’s suspension can — once we recalibrate the air-spring rates and damper tuning, the finished armored sedan rides almost identically to the OEM original. Many clients report it actually rides better, because the laminated armor glass damps high-frequency wind and road noise.

Acoustics matter for productive work in transit. The cabin sound levels of an armored S-Class measure 2 to 4 dB quieter than stock at highway speed, because the multi-layer laminated armor glass is acoustically superior to single-pane OEM glass. For executives who treat the car as a mobile office, the acoustic environment becomes a meaningful daily quality-of-life benefit.

Each platform has distinct armoring characteristics. The Mercedes S-Class is our most-armored sedan platform by volume, and the engineering is the most refined: factory air suspension calibrates beautifully for armor weight, the cabin is large enough to accommodate the door-cell thickness without losing rear legroom, and Mercedes’ OEM acoustic glass forms a strong baseline for our transparent armor laminate. Build time runs 12 to 14 weeks.

The BMW 7 Series is sportier. It handles armor mass well thanks to its rear-wheel and all-wheel-drive options and adaptive suspension, and it preserves a more dynamic driving feel than the S-Class. The cabin is slightly less spacious, which means door cards run thinner on the side armor (still BR6 capable). Build time runs 12 to 14 weeks.

The Bentley Flying Spur is hand-built and our armoring respects that. Build time extends to 16 to 18 weeks because we coordinate with Bentley Crewe for certain trim restoration components, and our master upholsterers personally re-stitch the leather panels after armor installation. The result is genuinely indistinguishable from a factory Bentley.

The Rolls-Royce Phantom is the most complex build in our lineup. Every interior element is hand-restored, the famous “Spirit of Ecstasy” silence is preserved through specialised acoustic damping, and build time runs 18 to 22 weeks. The Phantom is reserved for clients who want absolute prestige and absolute discretion in one vehicle.

Yes, we routinely armor client-supplied vehicles. About 35 percent of our sedan builds use a vehicle the client already owns; the rest are bought new on the client’s behalf, usually because the savings on armoring don’t outweigh the operational disruption of being without the existing vehicle for 12+ weeks.

Client-supplied vehicles must meet four conditions. First, the vehicle must be in good mechanical condition — major mechanical work should be completed before armoring begins. Second, the vehicle must be less than five years old, or seven years old if it is a Mercedes S-Class or BMW 7 Series with a fully-documented service history. Older platforms suffer from parts-availability and chassis-flex issues that hurt the final ride. Third, the vehicle must not have prior accident damage that affected the body cell — we test for this in our intake inspection. Fourth, the title must be clean and shipping documents in your name (we work with our clients’ legal teams to verify this before any work begins).

If we accept a client-supplied vehicle, the armoring quote excludes the base vehicle price (obviously) and the build follows the same 12 to 16 week schedule. Most clients save CAD $30,000 to CAD $80,000 versus buying a new vehicle through us, depending on the platform. The trade-off is the operational gap of being without the vehicle for the build duration.
