Which is better, a Tank-Like Armored Truck or an Elegant and Discreet Armored Sedan?

There is a debate happening now in the armored vehicle industry, with two sides of the same coin being compared. The market can be roughly divided into two halves; the ones that like the classy, luxurious and discreet armored vehicles, and those who like to drive a fortress on wheels. We do believe that those definitely are two sides of the same coin, and both are part of the armored vehicle world, with room enough for each.

The trend for the tank-like vehicles is easy to explain. The overwhelming power of those machines and the sheer might of their armor is not debatable, and where they lack in other qualities, they compensate with pure brawn. This is commendable, but really makes the vehicle hard to use in many cases where you just might really, really need to.

The most common reason to buy an armored car is safety, and this armored fortress is in fact a questionable choice in this exact respect. While it is true that their armor can take lots of damage before it gets hurt, the chance of testing that is higher. Buying one of them turns the passengers into targets, marking them as people worth attacking. In many parts of the world, being unnoticed is much, much safer than just being big and strong.

It’s Size OR Speed

The classic make armored cars carry significant protection (easily comparable to the huge ones, in fact), and have two main things that make them safer. One of them we had just mentioned, and it’s discretion. The other is almost as important, and it’s maneuverability. In an urban setting when an attack is happening, the Knight-grade car can try and plough through traffic and push its way through blocking vehicles but a smaller armored car may just pass by the obstacles completely unhindered.

Backing up quickly to disappear in the opposite direction is a luxury that the mega-SUV car simply can’t afford. That’s why they are used in military combat missions – they can only go in one direction and that’s forward. In the army, they also have weaponry attached and armed men sitting inside. When you buy a car to protect your family, taking this risk may not be a good idea. Not at all.

So while the armored tank will command lots of respect and prestige, the twice heavier than the Hummer vehicle will actually result in more danger by attracting unnecessary attention and crippling the ability to out-race pursuit.

Luxury and Size

There is the partial truth that the larger class vehicle can fit more elements that you want it to have, but the real truth is that their interior is not all that much bigger. It makes you feel huge, while really providing you just a little extra space. The regular class armored car already has all that is necessary. After all, what, (short of a pool table and a mini golf course) can you possibly not fit in a Luxury Armored Cadillac Escalade?

The really big armored car is really not that efficient. The same rule applies to planes and other feats of engineering. Once you pass a certain threshold of size, it becomes less, not more efficient. The classic armored SUVs are just on the verge of being too big, while still remaining within the manageable scale.

Once you go past their size, you run into some serious difficulties, and might want to ask yourself if it’s really worth the added risk and effort? Undisputably, in some cases, it would still be a good idea, but not in every case. Whichever you choose, of course, Exec Armor wishes you luxury and safety.
